Launch X431 Perform DPF Static Regeneration for Ford Fiesta 2011

Here is a step-by-step guide to using the Launch X431 device to perform diesel particulate filter (DPF) static regeneration for a 2011 Ford Fiesta Diesel.

Step 1: Connect the Device

  • Connect the Launch X431 device (V/PRO/PRO 3) to the vehicle’s OBD2 port.

Step 2: Access Vehicle Information

1. Enter the menu, select “FORD”, and tap “Confirm”.

2. Choose “Automatically Search”.

3. Vehicle information will be displayed, for example:

    • VIN=WF01-14C204-HA***
    • Vehicle=Fiesta
    • Capacity=1.6L
    • Engine Type=Duratorq-Turbo Diesel Common Rail Injection StgV
    • Vehicle code=AV21-14C204HA4.

4. Verify the information and select “OK”.

Step 3: Select System and PCM Module

1. Select “Fuel Type=Diesel”.

2. Choose “System Selection”.

3. Select “PCM (Powertrain Control Module)”.

The system will display the following information:

    • Module: PCM
    • Type: Standard Equipment Module
    • Module Information: 0008B55D
    • Vehicle Incode: 000039A7

4. Tap “OK” to proceed.

Step 4: Choose PCM Service Function

  1. Go to “Special Function”.
  2. Select “PCM Service Function”.
  3. A message will appear:

“Caution: This function will change the status of the vehicle.”
Tap “OK” to confirm.

Step 5: Start DPF Static Regeneration

  1. Select “Diesel Particulate Filter Static Regeneration”.
    A message will display:

“Carry out this procedure to regenerate the diesel particulate filter.”
Tap “OK” to continue.

Step 6: Follow On-Screen Instructions

  1. Turn the ignition to the “ON” position and tap “OK”.
  2. The system will read fault codes.
  3. Turn the ignition to the “OFF” position.

Step 7: Safety Warnings

  1. A safety warning will appear:
    • Engine speed will increase during the procedure.
    • The process may take up to 25 minutes.
    • Exhaust gas temperatures can reach 500°C.
    • Ensure at least 1 meter (3.3 ft) clearance behind the tailpipe.
  2. Tap “OK” to confirm and proceed.

Step 8: Start the Procedure

Warning:

“Ensure no combustible materials are near the exhaust system.”

Select “Yes” to proceed.

  1. Turn the ignition to the “ON” position.
  2. Start the engine. The system will inspect engine coolant temperature (must exceed 65°C).
  3. Tap “OK” to start the procedure.

Step 9: Regeneration Process

  • The process takes approximately 2500 seconds.
  • Confirm by selecting “Yes”.

Step 10: Complete the Process

  1. After the procedure, turn the ignition to the “OFF” position.
  2. DPF static regeneration is successfully completed!
