How to delete DPF on EDC17C81 EDC17C53 EDC17C63?

In diesel vehicle electronic control systems, the DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) has a built-in protection mechanism. When the ECU detects that the DPF efficiency has dropped or is malfunctioning, it limits engine torque output.

Simply put, this means reduced acceleration, speed limitations (typically up to 80 km/h), and fault code P2463.

Below is a step-by-step guide to manually disabling the DPF on BOSCH EDC17C81, EDC17C53, and EDC17C63.

Steps to Disable DPF

Step 1: Read ECU Data

  1. Use an ECU read/write programmer such as KTAG, Dimsport, PCMflash, etc., to read the ECU data.
  2. Ensure your programmer supports checksum correction, or the process may not work correctly.

Example: Using PCMflash

  • Follow the wiring diagram to establish the correct connection.
  • Read the ECU data file before making modifications.

Proceed to the next steps to modify and reflash the ECU file.

Run PCMflash to read the ECU data.

For DPF disable, only the Flash data needs to be read and saved—EEPROM is not required.

However, it is recommended to back up both the Flash and EEPROM files in case of any issues.

Step 2:Modify Flash file

Use Hexworkshop software to open Flash file read out from ECU

Then search “8813000088”

Find below digits “00 00 01 00 88 13 00 00 88”

Now change it to “00 00 00 00 88 13 00 00 88”

If you can not find “00 00 01 00 88 13 00 00 88”,please search “2C01080001”

Now change “2C01080001” to “2C01080000”

Step 3: Write the Modified Flash File Back to the ECU

Use an ECU programmer to write the modified Flash file back to the ECU.

Finally, reinstall the ECU in the vehicle and perform a test.
